Organizations must develop systems that are capable of flowing value in shorter timeframes to meet customer expectations of reduced lead times.  Continuous Flow Processing can really help. The application of Continuous Flow Processing concepts can result in significant lead time reduction of 40-90%, with accompanying benefits of improved productivity and quality, as well as floor space savings in manufacturing environments. The concepts of balancing processes to customer demand rates, minimizing non-value adding waste, and managing flow is applicable to any process in any industry.  These concepts will be reviewed in the context of an 8-step methodology.

Visual Management is a common theme throughout Enterprise Excellence. Making standards visible so that non-standard conditions can be quickly identified and responded to is paramount. A comprehensive Visual Management System should drive continuous improvement. This module will review this subject in depth and provide suggestions for developing an effective VMS. Organizations in every industry seek to align their improvement efforts to defined, longer-term strategic objectives. This module will review an effective process for identifying strategies that will be the focus of the organization over the next 1-3 years and translating them into tactical plans to be pursued over the next 12 months. Two important tools for this process are A3 Storyboards and X-matrices, which will also be covered. Reporting, measuring results, and communications will round out the subject.

The key to a successful transformation to Lean/Enterprise Excellence is an organization’s leadership. The goal is to develop a culture of continuous improvement, and leaders define culture. This module will review the requisite skills that a leader must possess, as well as the behaviors a leader must consistently exhibit to be successful. In addition, an important tool, Leader Standard Work, will be reviewed which can help a leader create the habits necessary overtime. Real-world application opportunities in work await those participants who choose to further develop their skills and understanding.
