The Advanced Manufacturing program provides a comprehensive, self-paced online learning experience. The program includes four courses: Advanced Materials & Processes for Manufacturing Lightweight Structures, Design & Manufacture of Multi-Material Lightweight Structures, Innovation in Manufacturing Systems & Sustainability, and Smart Production Systems. By completing these courses, you’ll gain insights into advanced materials, multi-material structures, sustainable practices, and smart production technologies.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand current trends and challenges in advanced manufacturing, including lightweighting, multi-material structures, smart production systems, and sustainability.
  • Gain essential knowledge of advanced materials, manufacturing processes, and integration techniques, enabling critical evaluation and application of innovative manufacturing solutions.
  • Apply design and manufacturing principles to optimize joint performance, material selection, and system configurations for lightweight and sustainable manufacturing.
  • Develop an understanding of Smart Production Systems (SPS) and their role in Industry 4.0, including programming, implementation, and evaluation for continuous improvement.
  • Learn and implement sustainable manufacturing practices, including life cycle assessment, eco-auditing, and sustainability metrics for real-world applications.
  • Synthesize manufacturing paradigms and strategies to address emerging challenges, from product variety to the integration of intelligent systems.
  • Build practical skills for optimizing manufacturing systems and processes, leveraging digital tools, data-driven approaches, and interdisciplinary methods for effective decision-making.

Program Overview

The program is fully online and self-paced. Learners can individually complete each course to earn a badge or complete all 4 courses to earn a program certificate.

Each course contains 4-6 hours of online instruction. Individual courses must be completed within 60 days. If completing the full Advanced Manufacturing program, all courses must be purchased together and completed in 180 days.
