Energy systems engineering is crucial for addressing sustainable energy challenges and designing solutions for the future. Through this program, students develop skills related to energy conversion technologies, sustainability, the economics of energy, and public policy. The focus on energy systems prepares graduates for careers in this dynamic industry.
The Energy Systems Engineering program is flexible. Students can plan a course of study that prepares them for the next phase of their careers. Faculty members share their diverse perspectives from across the University of Michigan, including Michigan Engineering, the School for Environment and Sustainability, the Ross School of Business, the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and the College of Literature Science and Arts. In the program, students explore topics such as energy generation, distribution, and use; transportation power; and sustainable chemical conversion.
