Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is the course offered online?

There are two classroom weeks in the Master Black Belt course. When you register, you can choose to participate either in person or remotely.

Are there any prerequisites for course registration?

To enroll in the Master Black Belt certification program you must meet the following requirements:

  • Certified Black Belt from a recognized institution (including but not limited to accredited university programs or independent professional training providers) 
  • Worked as a Black Belt in an organization for at least 2 years
  • Completed at least 3 significant DMAIC projects 
  • Signed letter from your supervisor indicating you have at least 2 years of Black Belt work experience and completed 3 significant improvement projects
  • Copy of your current resume or CV

When can I sign up?

There is only one offering of the Master Black Belt course each year, and only 9 candidates are accepted into the program. Applications are typically due in late spring each year.

What are the course requirements?

Prior to start, you complete a pre-course assignment. In addition to the two week-long classroom sessions, there are also online exercises and case studies. You also take a certification and exam and present a portfolio.
